The viewing
You have an invitation for a viewing — congratulations! That is already an achievement in this market. Now you have to do two things at once: make a good impression on the landlord and critically examine the property. Because not every property is what it seems in the photos.
What should you pay attention to?
Systematically walk through the property and check these points:
- Water pressure: Turn on taps in the kitchen and bathroom. Flush the toilet. Weak water pressure can indicate old pipes.
- Moisture and mold: Check walls, ceilings, and corners. Look behind cabinets if possible. Mold on the walls is a serious defect.
- Noise nuisance: Listen carefully. Do you hear neighbors? Traffic? A pub? Visit the property at a different time if possible.
